Introducing Blu-ray Disc, the optical storage format of the future.
Blu-ray technology utilizes an advanced new blue laser, as opposed
to the traditional red laser of the past generation DVD and CD
formats. This blue laser has a shorter wavelength; accordingly, more
data can be stored on a smaller area of the disc. This truly
innovative technology allows for massive amounts of data to be
written to a single disc. A single dual layer disc can hold a record
braking 50GB of data. Imagine fitting the same amount of data that
would normally fill over 70 700MB CD-Rs onto a single 50GB Blu-ray
Disc! Even more exciting is the fact that this is only the
first wave of the next generation format; future discs will have up
to 8 layers and the possibility of holding up to 200GB per disc and
more! |
